Cooper
Cooper when he first came After his first grooming
to us in 09-05
Cooper came to SDPR in September of 2005 when the Gaines Street Animal Shelter in San Diego called us about a little poodle in their care. We went and checked him out and found a tiny silver poodle under mounds of overgrown hair that was scared to death. He had been found as a stray and no one came to claim him. We adopted him and set off for home.
After a thorough grooming and check, we found a tiny little toy poodle of about 5 lb, old, deaf but very sweet. He has obviously had his tiny legs broken several times - we don't know if they have ever been set or treated by a vet. They are crooked and hard for him to walk on. Some of it could be from arthritis, as well. Since they are old breaks, we can't do anything now.
Cooper (we named him after the Mini Cooper car) now lives in our house. He barks to let us know when it is food time or if we are eating something that smells very good and he wants some. Even though he can't hear, his nose works wonderfully!
Lucky
This is a picture of Lucky taken in November 2007.
Lucky came to SDPR in 2005 from a shelter in the Los Angeles area. This "lucky" cockapoo boy got pulled before being euthanized. He went to a home for almost two years then was returned to SDPR. Lucky has some serious heart problems that are not curable, only controllable for the time being with medication. So, he stays with us and we try to keep him happy and stress-free to prevent any further health problems. Lucky loves his toys and food!
Mimi
Mimi is a sweet little girl who was adopted from the Chula Vista Animal Shelter in April of 2004. She is either a poodle or a bichon - it doesn't matter. She is an old girl who has slowed down quite a bit since she has been with us. She has only a few teeth left in her mouth, but that doesn't prevent her from eating. She loves everyone and can usually be found sound asleep on a cushy dog bed with one or two kitties curled up with her.
